Elements

This series is a set of performance sculptures and accompanying videos that are inspired by the elements: earth, air, fire, and water.
The elements are crucial to life, the body, and existence but all must maintain equilibrium. Each piece in the series asks for a unique balance, a shared action, and a collaboration. The performance of these objects engages the vulnerability of the body and the negotiations of care.

Air Space, Breathe (Air)

Air: Breathe, inhale, exhale, repeat. it’s an agreement with the body, a conversation with other bodies, and the earth. The shared breath of closeness, panting, and suffocation, gasping.

Funnel, Swig (Water)

Water: Swig, drip, spill. The amount of liquid consumed depends on the levelness of the funnel. If one takes less the other has more.

Trace (Earth)

Earth: is movement, a choreographed mix of gently lifting and slow dragging, leaving behind a Trace, a trail. As the shoes break, they begin to merge with the ground below.

Kindle (Fire)

Fire: Kindle and then hold. Be patient and persistent, it’s an agreement, a compromise, a wish, and an inevitable parting after an intimate amount of shared time.
